The Sacred Kedarnath Trek
The Kedarnath trek is a 18 km pilgrimage from Gaurikund (1,982m) to Kedarnath Temple (3,583m). It is one of the most spiritually rewarding treks in India, passing through stunning mountain scenery alongside the Mandakini River.

Trek Options
On Foot (Free)
The traditional way. The well-maintained pilgrim path has rest stops, food stalls, and medical aid every 2-3 km.
Pony/Palki (₹2,500-₹5,000)
Horses and palanquins are available from Gaurikund. Book at the official counter to avoid overcharging.
Helicopter (₹7,000-₹12,000)
The fastest option — 10-15 minute flight from Phata/Sersi to Kedarnath. Ideal for senior citizens and those with limited time.

- Warm jacket and layers (temperature drops significantly at altitude)
- Rain poncho (weather changes rapidly)
- Comfortable trekking shoes with good grip
- Water bottle and energy snacks
- Basic medicines (altitude sickness, pain relief)
- Torch/flashlight
